I wonder if the Coast Guard investigates the casualty like they do all marine incidents on commercial vessels. Or does the PFD get a waiver on an investigation?

I've conducted rescue and fire safety training for fire departments in Maine in the past. Although I don't know all the facts of the incident, only what I got from the paper, it seems there were lapses in risk assessment and decision-making. Imagine what could have happened if it had been blowing a gale. In fact, the wind was freshening (20 to 25 knots from the SSW) that night.seabgbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04170190396896016798noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19093293.post-83140239985614304962009-11-11T05:26:18.535-08:002009-11-11T05:26:18.535-08:00Several things; Why use whitehead pass when portla...Several things; Why use whitehead pass when portland entrance is a half mile away, well lighted and marked and straight.?
Why send a boat crew with no idea where they were going? Very easy to get into Jewell island, any tide, any weathers.nose up and step out ankle wet.
I recommend having the PFD go out with some lobstermen and learn the area to avoid looking stupid in the future.
Iunderwayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02783033335471863214noreply@blogger.com
